Tarot Journal - Justice

JusticeI just started a cool little free online tarot class, here. It’s 8 weeks, and for the last lesson, I wrote about Tarot journaling. (We had to talk about an alternate use for the Tarot.) But anyway, I enjoyed doing it, and reading the other student’s answers.

So anyway, I figured since I’m in the class and all, I might try a little tarot journaling. I pulled Judgement. (more…)

3 things…

Three things I appreciate today:

  • Beautiful weather; windows and fans are fabulous in late November.
  • Old, worn T-shirts. Nothing’s more comfortable.
  • Holiday Popcorn tins. It’s silly, but I’ve always loved ‘em.

black friday note

one thing i noticed i forgot to mention in my black friday post, which seemed a bit on the whiney side when i reread it…even though i was tired as hell and there were a billion and two people and we spent time standing outside in the middle of the night…well, it was kinda fun. yes. fun.

it was an adventure to hop in the car at 3am with my husband. and the people did have a general sense of comraderie there. we all knew we were silly, but we went out in the quest of deals. there was a certain “we’re all in this together” vibe. people shared information. they shared store circulars. they asked each other questions, and in general, were a lot more friendly than you normally get. not every single one, but a lot of ‘em.

and when we were in line at office depot, the chick behind us ended up getting a laptop she’d came for that she hadn’t thought she was going to be able to getshe was so excited, she started jumping up and down. she was squealing, a little anyway.

i dunno. it was just kind of cool to see that lady get so happy. i felt happy for her, too. even though i didn’t end up with everything  i wanted, it was nice to see somebody who did and was thrilled about it.

Pitch Black Friday

Black FridayOk, we knew it was silly. But, you know, we’ve never had the experience before. And Best Buy did have some wicked good deals.

So, we figured, what the Hell.

[Insert dramatic and intimidating B-Movie Music here, along with a dramatic pause:] We went shopping on Black Friday!

The picture is pretty accurate.  (more…)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Of course, it’s the day to think about the things you appreciate, which is great. It’s a wonderful idea for a Holiday, don’t you think? Setting aside a special day to feel lucky. Spending time thinking about all the stuff that you’re glad you’ve got. Have a big meal and take it easy and spend time with some people you care about.

That’s pretty Goddamned cool, if you ask me.

So in honor of the holiday, here are some of my Thanksgiving things I’m thankful for… (more…)

weird business-ism

BuzzedA weird thing that I’ve found in my business–the less somebody is paying for something, the more they expect from it.

Now, this makes absolutely no fucking sense. I mean, what the Hell? But there it is, and I’ve found without exception, this to be the case. If they’re not paying for it, they are the most likely to complain about something or other.

And for some reason, the more somebody is paying for something, the more they seem to respect it (and/or your time and energy).

Alternate way of communicating this thought: I need to stop donating/discounting services and rasie my rates. And find different ways to give back that are less annoying. (more…)

jules goes stealth

ok, i don’t have plastic on my couch because i’m some billion-year-old lady who is afraid the grandkids will spill koolaid one it. nope. not me. i’m a 41-year-old chick who knows cats have a mysterious drive to pee on futons.

but anywho, jules, my little black cat, likes to crawl UNDER the plastic. it’s not her brightest move, since she’s pretty well camoflauged that way. but she will stay under there for hours. (the lazy ass on top of the couch is vega.)

Jules goes stealth.
