• try it. at least once, damnit.

You know that thing? That I was talking about the other day? Well, it’s still true. It strikes again. But I also noted something else….there are some combinations that are best off left alone. Like cutesy, and helpless. Together again, paired up with their friend impatience, you’ve got a trio brought to you straight from the seventh grade, man.

Recently, I got all three–from somebody who isn’t paying me.

FireNow, I don’t consider myself a bitch. I actually like to be helpful, and if I’m in a position to offer something without a great personal cost to me, I’ll offer it more times than not. Sometimes quite a bit of help, or whatever. I like to contribute and be helpful. I do.

So why would I specify that about it coming from somebody who isn’t paying me? Well, because often, people who aren’t paying you expect more than the people who are.

I was trying to figure out where my beef was coming from, ’cause I found myself getting anoyed as Hell there for a little bit at one of these sitiuations. I mean, sure, i got over it. But I got “the flash,” where my head gets hot and my kids start laughing at the faces I’m making while I type out the emails or whatever.

But you know…I guess for me, I expect whoever I’m interacting with to at least try to help themselves within their scope of ability. If you don’t want to do any of it, then hire somebody or get your brother’s cousin’s 12-year-old. I don’t care. Just don’t expect to be a the top of my priority list if you can’t be bothered to do a fucking google for yourself. My energy is not worth less than your energy.

Now in all fairness, sometimes people don’t know what’s a 30-second answer and what’s a big deal sometimes. And I understand that. And I do usually try to point people in the right direction.  But if I say, “Ok, you need to do X, Y and Z to accomplish the task you want,” I expect ‘em to at least make an honest effort to do that before claiming incompetence. Or helplessness. Or what the fuck ever it is.

    I don’t think that’s unreasonable.
