The subject of “judementalness” has come up several times lately for me. (Is that a word? Oh yeah–it is now! I forgot about my goddess powers.)

But I digress. I mean, often, we think of being judgemental as a bad thing. And it can be, I think. I guess it depends on what you mean.

I dunno. I mean, I’ve been told by friends that I am not judgemental–it makes people more comfortable to talk to me. And I value that assessment, for sure. That’s something I feel good about. And I like to believe everyone has to find the right path for themselves, and most people are doing the best they can. Just because something’s wrong _for me_ doesn’t mean it won’t lead someone else where they need to go.

But you know, there are some things I believe are wrong. And some people I don’t like. So I kind of wondered: does that make me a hypocrite?

Not surprisingly, I prefer to think, “No.” I dunno, though. I would like to be a little more Zen sometimes. I’d like to be able to remove some of the emotional component from my feelings about what other people do, and let go of the whole “right/wrong” classification, really. That doesn’t mean I would have to LIKE every behavior, or agree with it, or think anything is acceptable to me, by my standards, or for inclusion in my life.

I guess it all boils down to the idea that there is some energy I just don’t want to get on me. Whether you consider it judging or not, whether you like it or not, whether you think the actor in the case is nice or mean, it just doesn’t matter. Some things, I don’t want on me, period. So, you know.

If that’s judgemental, then I guess I am. But maybe I am judgemental about what I want in my own life, more than anything.
