I just moved to EasyStreet!

I just got my own dedicated server, for hosting. That means I have an entire computer for hosting my sites and my client’s sites, sitting in some data center down in TX somewhere, that I’m responsible for.

This is kinda cool–it appeals to my inner geek. I can do what I want on it. I don’t have to suffer because other people I’m sharing a server with have been spammers, which can sometimes make our email bounce. Like that.

But it’s a lot to assimilate, too. I am a noob in the system administration area, and I’m nervous. I have a lot to learn.

The worst part of the experience: going around with support tyring to figure out what the hell I’m doing.

The best part of the experience: feeling cool, yes, but mostly that I got to name my own server.

So I just moved my clients and myself from a server named Oldsmobile to “easystreet.goodkarmahost.com” - how cool is that?

I just moved to easystreet!

whoever it is…

that is holding the scissors hostage that belong in the pencil mug in the kitchen, you should return them. there will be no prosecution or charges pressed. they miss their home. their family is worried. their owners need them.

helllooooo,,,,

  [listening for echos]

i’m here. really. i’ve been working my ass off. but i’ve been thinking about you, oh blog. i’ve missed you.

 really.

i have a lot of projects going on. i’m excited about them, but i’m at a place where i’m trying to learn a lot of stuff in a short period of time. i’ve taken on some ambitious projects. it’s good. i feel good about it. but it’s time consuming and, sometimes, stressfull.

but it’s all good in the hood.

aggghhhh!

8 pentaclesJesus fucking Christ.

I’ve been busy lately.  You know? Busy. Which is cool. And one of the projects I’ve been working on is a personal one: taking over the admin of one of my favorite low-carb sites. and i’m excited about it: it’s a huge opportunity for me, not only to work on a cool project, but to give something back and manage a site that’s considerably bigger and busier than anything i’ve ever worked on.

and you know what? i’m stressing! (more…)
