Took my baby back to the vet today. “Jewels” as they spell it at the vets, who is still recovering from her dryer accident a few weeks back. (While Amber named her after the Pulp Fiction character, I like the other spelling myself because she IS a gem, so I think I’ll use it instead.)
She did NOT want to visit the vets this morning, judging by her reaction to the carrier. She got away from me once and altogether, it took about 20 minues for me to find her. I ended up asking my neighbor to help me get her in it, because she was putting up a fight. But we got her there eventually.
I was concerned because this weekend, I woke up to see a huge chunk of hair had fallen off her tail, maybe 6 inches or so in the middle of her tail. And while her ears don’t seem to be giving her pain for the most part, they don’t look great either.
The vet gave her another 2-week shot of antibiotics–shots for cat medicine rules!–and told me to bring her back in after another two weeks or if she seems to need attention beforehand. He didn’t know if her tail fur will grow back or not, but it may. She’ll lose about half of her left ear, and the tip off her right. The vet also said that dryer accidents are very common.
When we got back, I gave her some catnip and she seemed to forgive me for the ordeal. Vega, on the other hand, noticed the extra attention she was getting and kept hissing in her general direction until I scolded him several times, when he opted to go sulk under my bed instead.
I’m glad she’s progressing, but will be very glad when she’s finished healing! She’s such a sweet kitty.
