I’m still here, but busy…however, in the meantime….

Some of you all are already famililar with Elsa the astrolger from ElsaElsa.com. She’s put out a request that doesn’t cost anything but a few minutes and I thought was a good cause…

Anyway, Elsa’s boyfriend has a son in Iraq. The son speaks Arabic is therefore in the very thick of action, and it’s dangerous. He and the folks in his unit could use some cheering up. The son’s name is “Captain Gus” and the troop’s nickname is “Tropic Lightning.”

They’re requesting random pics of everyday people, pets, stuff, whatever, with supportive messages to help encourage these soldiers. No politics - just letting them know there are folks back home who appreciate their service.

haven’t been posting on dixiblog a lot lately….doing a fair amount of work on LCE instead.  i do have a few blog posts over there, for anybody interested. more of a dieting/lc focus.

i did set it up so unregistered people can comment, so you can if you want, but there’s a good chance it will moderate your comments. so they might not appear right away. i’m still experimenting with the settings.

got a new place for buying cigarettes. $10/carton plus $3 shipping. there is a wait to get ‘em (coming from sweden, the ones i got), but for smokers, a good deal. if you order through the link, i get i discount next time.

well, i tried to post a roomba video and a time lapse experiment of me working. (kinda silly). but my new security filters in place won’t let me, so i have to track down the error and figure out how to disable it for what i’m doing.

great. something new to figure out, man. just want i need.

I can’t really post my roses opening video online because I can’t get it to compress enough and it’s not that good yet. but i did learn a few things…

•  zoom in…make sure you already have the shot framed that you want before you take the pix.
• reduce your camera’s resolution. a few hundred 6-mexapixel pictures are HARD to compress enough to put on a website.
• roses open SLOWLY. one pic every 5 minutes is much too fast.
• tripods rule.

been reading some online tips and will try again with some other fun photo stuff…

sorry for boring the folks not interested in ipods, but i’m having fun with it.

the apple is made MUCH better than the knock-off i got. and for fun, i grabbed a bunch of songs that i may not have normally listened to, some stuff i didn’t know exactly what it was, but sounded interesting. so…i have some alternative, rap, blues, hiphop, etc. and it’s been fun.

i suprised myself some: i’m really diggin’ on the pink, man. what the??  

i didn’t expect that, but she’s got a really good voice. and she’s got this rap song, about girls not “givin’ it up” for guys too easily. i shouldn’t like it, but i do. “Respect” by Pink.

Man…i’m not even sure what to say to this one…
