rock on out with oskar!

Listen to the show! It’s Wednesday, folks. You know what that means: if you’re not elsewise occupied, it’s time to listen to The Rock According to Oskar - 7:30pm to 10pm, CST. My brother-in-law, Oskar the audiophile, will take you on an always-entertaining musical journey to explore the recesses of the human mind. Also, you’ll hear a lot of cool songs and stuff. You can listen in online by visiting the link.

Even if you can’t listen to the whole show, do tune in on your computer if you can. It helps him make the other DJ’s jealous, when his numbers are good.

where’s the goddess?

Hummer3well, looks like recently i got a complaint that i wasn’t updating enough. go figure.

i have been thinking i’d like to write more here, but it’s been a busy time. expect this blog to only be updated sporadically between now and late june. my work on LCE will keep my QUITE busy until the site is actually switched over, towards the end of the month. if i don’t get it finished on time, it costs me $200. so consider that motivation.

i did, however, get the forums moved, which was (i HOPE) the worst of it. it’s a complicated process and i’m learning TONS of new stuff, which is good, but at times a bit overwhelming.

however, this blog is also largely a relaxing hobby for me, and for that, it’s good to make time. so i’ll be popping in and out.

in other news:

  • the hummingbirds came back! i was delighted to see one this monday, so any minute, we should be back in biz 100%. i have my feeder out, and with my newish camera, i’m hoping to take some cool pix.
  • monkey got a “real job.” she was transitioned from temp staff to full time at her current workplace, starting next month. this should both provide her with plenty of $$$ to take care of business and, we hope, little time to spend it on frivolity and other ill-advised expenditures. let’s hope! at any rate, this is very good news.
  • went out the other night with friends and family. that’s good for you!
  • we still don’t know what to get my honey for father’s day. he’s very little help in the matter.
  • i’m planning on getting a tricked-out laptop, hopefully at the end of this month. i’m so excited about it, i’m practically drooling. i can’t wait to post my blogs from out on my front porch, man.
  • today, i appreciate: sunshine, houseplants, and smileys.

peace out to the “mini-masses” who stop by dixiblog.

  [listening for echos]

i’m here. really. i’ve been working my ass off. but i’ve been thinking about you, oh blog. i’ve missed you.

 really.

i have a lot of projects going on. i’m excited about them, but i’m at a place where i’m trying to learn a lot of stuff in a short period of time. i’ve taken on some ambitious projects. it’s good. i feel good about it. but it’s time consuming and, sometimes, stressfull.

but it’s all good in the hood.

PersicopeBeen working a lot, but I’m still here. I’ll come back to entertain you all soon…

January 24, 2007

where am i?

Persicopegoing a little crazy, i guess. but not bad crazy.

I’ve been SWAMPED with work. Again. Which hey, I’m not bitching about. Busy is good for a freelancer, I know. I appreciate the work–and especially the checks. Checks are good. Very good.

Anyway, that’s the thing. Busy with work, dealing with my family, and doing my thing. I will write more soon. But I’m doing fine. Just busy.

Registering at Dixiblog…

If you are interested in registering at dixiblog, please contact me with a REAL email address (no hotmail, yahoo, gmail, or any online/thowaway email addys–only ISP or work email addresses).

I would like to know who you are and how you came across the blog before I approve your registration.

If I don’t know who you are, your registration will NOT be approved and will eventually get deleted.

Frankly, unless you know me outside the context of dixiblog, most of the extra content you’d be able to access as a registered user will bore your pants off. It’s more about my personal life and family than the public posts. But it’s your time, I guess. Har!

From time to time, somebody or other’s ex thinks it would be a GREAT idea to register for my blog and I get a bunch of bogus registration attempts. Why the sorry fuckers even bother to read here–especially when they mostly hate me anyway–I will never understand. Nor do I want to understand. I can only hope they find their way out of my energy field to spread their shit elsewhere. I hate getting crazy on me.

If you don’t have time to screw with telling me who you are, I don’t have time to screw with you. So if you’ve registered and are an acutal, interested reader who found dixiblog in the ethers and not a lame psycho ex who wants to spy on me and my family or something, then email me directly from your internet provider email address or your work email address.

If not, fuck off.

‘Nuff said.

black friday note

one thing i noticed i forgot to mention in my black friday post, which seemed a bit on the whiney side when i reread it…even though i was tired as hell and there were a billion and two people and we spent time standing outside in the middle of the night…well, it was kinda fun. yes. fun.

it was an adventure to hop in the car at 3am with my husband. and the people did have a general sense of comraderie there. we all knew we were silly, but we went out in the quest of deals. there was a certain “we’re all in this together” vibe. people shared information. they shared store circulars. they asked each other questions, and in general, were a lot more friendly than you normally get. not every single one, but a lot of ‘em.

and when we were in line at office depot, the chick behind us ended up getting a laptop she’d came for that she hadn’t thought she was going to be able to getshe was so excited, she started jumping up and down. she was squealing, a little anyway.

i dunno. it was just kind of cool to see that lady get so happy. i felt happy for her, too. even though i didn’t end up with everything  i wanted, it was nice to see somebody who did and was thrilled about it.
